This was one of those days that reminds us why Southern Heights is such a special place.
Today, we celebrated our 5th graders as they completed their final year at Southern Heights Elementary and prepared for the next chapter of their journey. We were honored to have families join us for this special occasion and would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our guest speaker, Jocelyn Gonzalez, a former Southern Heights student and the Class of 2026 Salutatorian. Her message served as a powerful reminder of what our students can accomplish through hard work, determination, and believing in themselves.
A special thank you goes to one of our generous Southern Heights families for providing the delicious meal that helped make the celebration even more memorable.
We would also like to thank our SPOT team, teachers, staff, photographer, and everyone who helped plan, organize, decorate, serve, and support today’s promotion ceremony. Your time, effort, and dedication helped create a meaningful day for our students and their families.
To the Class of 2026, congratulations. We are proud of the growth you have shown, the memories you have created, and the legacy you leave behind at Southern Heights.
We will miss you and wish you nothing but success as you begin this next chapter.

To celebrate their outstanding achievement and commitment to coming to school every day, Officer Mann with the Hobbs Police Department and Sheriff Goins with the Lea County Sheriff's Office treated the class to a pizza party celebration.
We are incredibly thankful for the continued support both departments show our students and school community. Good attendance is an important part of student success, helping students stay engaged, build positive habits, and make the most of every learning opportunity throughout the school year.

The opening reception was on Friday, but after that, all are invited to come out and view the amazing works and talent in our schools throughout the month of April at the Lea County Center for the Arts @ 122 W. Broadway.🎨🖼️
These fantastic staff members within Hobbs Municipal Schools deliver targeted support to students who may need extra help while they work alongside their classroom teachers. This week is our final week of preparation, and we are proud of the hard work our students have been putting in. They have been practicing the skills and strategies they need, and they are ready to show what they know.
Testing will begin on March 30.
Attendance during testing is extremely important. Please make every effort to have your child at school each day and on time so they do not miss any part of the assessment.
You can help set your child up for success by making sure they:
• Get a good night’s sleep
• Eat a healthy breakfast
• Arrive to school on time
• Come with a positive mindset
We are excited to see our students finish strong and show their growth. Thank you for your support as we head into testing week!

A BIG congratulations to the HHS Science Olympiad team who took first place in the SE Regional Science Olympiad competition recently in Lovington at the 6th Grade Academy. Also a BIG thank you to Mr. Epperson, the HHS Science Olympiad Coach who invested in these students to get them ready to shine at competition.
