Every year , HHS Seniors walk the halls of their old elementary and middle schools, reminicing on their time at Hobbs schools and inspiring the next generation of younger students to finish strong and Fly Like Eagles!

Congratulations to Mrs. Valdez’s 4th Grade class for being named the overall attendance winners for the 2025–2026 school year!
To celebrate their outstanding achievement and commitment to coming to school every day, Officer Mann with the Hobbs Police Department and Sheriff Goins with the Lea County Sheriff's Office treated the class to a pizza party celebration.
We are incredibly thankful for the continued support both departments show our students and school community. Good attendance is an important part of student success, helping students stay engaged, build positive habits, and make the most of every learning opportunity throughout the school year.

We invite all former Southern Heights students graduating this year to join us on Thursday, May 21 from 10:00–10:30 AM as they walk the halls one last time before graduation.

Seniors are encouraged to attend in their cap and gown.

⭐️The Hobbs Municipal Schools HHS Art Show 2026!🖼️ We are very thankful to John and Kelley McMillan and their students for displaying their creative minds through art! The opening reception was on Friday, but after that, all are invited to come out and view the amazing works and talent in our schools throughout the month of April at the Lea County Center for the Arts @ 122 W. Broadway.🎨🖼️

These fantastic staff members within Hobbs Municipal Schools deliver targeted support to students who may need extra help while they work alongside their classroom teachers. This week is our final week of preparation, and we are proud of the hard work our students have been putting in. They have been practicing the skills and strategies they need, and they are ready to show what they know.
Testing will begin on March 30.
Attendance during testing is extremely important. Please make every effort to have your child at school each day and on time so they do not miss any part of the assessment.
You can help set your child up for success by making sure they:
• Get a good night’s sleep
• Eat a healthy breakfast
• Arrive to school on time
• Come with a positive mindset
We are excited to see our students finish strong and show their growth. Thank you for your support as we head into testing week!

March 2nd is Read Across America Day, a day to celebrate one of our favorite activities at Hobbs Schools... READING!

This day was established by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998 to help get kids excited about reading.
On National Read Across America Day, students, teachers, parents, and community members around the nation come together to read books and celebrate the joy of reading — join us and read a good book together!

Be on the lookout for fun days of dress up, reading and celebrating the literary genius of Dr. Seuss within the district for Dr. Seuss Week , March 2-6!
This is an annual, school-focused celebration held around March 2nd (the author's birthday) to promote reading, often aligning with National Read Across America Day. It features themed, book-based dress-up days—such as wearing stripes, crazy socks, or green—alongside classroom activities, crafts, and reading sessions to foster a love for literacy!

Friendly reminder that Hobbs Schools will be closed and there is no school for students on Monday, February 16th, as we are having a professional development day for our staff.

A BIG congratulations to the HHS Science Olympiad team who took first place in the SE Regional Science Olympiad competition recently in Lovington at the 6th Grade Academy. Also a BIG thank you to Mr. Epperson, the HHS Science Olympiad Coach who invested in these students to get them ready to shine at competition.

Congratulations are in order! Our boys' swim and dive team secured first place at the 3-4 District NMAA championship held in Artesia today. We surpassed the powerful Artesia Bulldogs by 12 points. Clovis Wildcats took third place with 82 points. Our girls' team delivered another impressive performance, securing third place, narrowly edged out by Clovis and Artesia. All of our kids had some incredible swims today and had personal best times. Well done Eagles!
